Dancehall style from the 1980s onward
Well supported
Dancehall is a way of dressing as much as a way of recording. From the 1980s the dance produced its own visual language — bought, made and worn to be seen, and later to be caught by the video light — with its own designers, its own economy and its own arguments about respectability. It changes faster than the music and is documented far less.
