Campari in Jamaica

Probable

The Italian bitter aperitif, drunk in Jamaica long and cold — mixed with cranberry, Ting or soda rather than taken as a European aperitivo — and a fixture of the bottle-service end of Jamaican nightlife.

It carries a twist that belongs in this collection rather than a footnote. Gruppo Campari acquired Lascelles deMercado in 2012, which means the company whose bottle sits on the table also owns J. Wray & Nephew, White Overproof rum and Magnum Tonic Wine. The bitter that reads as the imported, uptown choice and the overproof that reads as the opposite are now sold by the same firm.
