Jamaica National Honours 2026

The 2026 national honours, announced on 6 August 2026 and to be conferred at King's House on National Heroes Day, 19 October. Around 140 people were named across all fields, eight of them from music. Five take the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer: the guitarist Earl "Chinna" Smith, cited for contribution to reggae; the singer Stranger Cole, posthumously, having died in June aged 85; the producers Michael "Mikey" Bennett and Robert Livingston; and the deejay Mr.

Vegas. Three take the Badge of Honour for Meritorious Service: the percussionists Norman "Bongo Herman" Davis and Lawrence "Larry" McDonald, and Carlyle Palmer, co-founder of Jet Star Records in Britain. Read together the list is a statement about which work counts: two of the eight are session percussionists, one is a distributor, and two are producers rather than performers.
