Beverley's Records

Well supported

Leslie Kong's Orange Street operation — an ice-cream parlour and record shop that became one of the sharpest labels of the ska-to-reggae years. It gave Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley their first records, ran Desmond Dekker's career through "Israelites", and produced the Maytals' "Monkey Man". It ended with Kong's death at 38 in 1971.
