Cutty Ranks's claim over "Dame Tu Cosita"
Probable
Cutty Ranks's separate and longer-running effort to be credited and paid for "Dame Tu Cosita," which he says derives from his 1991 record "The Stopper" and which he says he wrote before El Chombo translated it into Spanish in 1997. The 2018 remix with Pitbull and Karol G reached No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the video has passed five billion views.
As at January 2026 he had retained new counsel and told the Jamaica Gleaner: "I am still battling them because all now I haven't been properly compensated." He has also publicly backed Steely & Clevie's case.
