Heavy D (Dwight Arrington Myers)

Dwight Arrington Myers, born in Mandeville, Jamaica, on 24 May 1967 to nurse Eulahlee Lee and machine technician Clifford Vincent Myers, moved with his family to Mount Vernon, New York, in the early 1970s and recorded as Heavy D. He founded Heavy D & the Boyz, the first act signed to Andre Harrell's Uptown Records, and worked with Jamaican deejays including Super Cat in New York's early-1990s hip-hop/dancehall exchange. He died on 8 November 2011.
