Karl Mullings
Well supported
One of the founding builders of Jamaican music in Canada: manager of the Sheiks, Toronto's first prominent Jamaican band, in the mid-1960s, an early advocate for Caribana at its 1967 founding, and a working partner to Jackie Mittoo, Lynn Taitt, Hopeton Lewis, the Fabulous Flames, the Cavaliers and the Cougars through the scene's first decades. The Canadian Reggae Music Awards gave him the Peter Tosh Memorial Award in 1994 and a Circle of Distinction Award in 2005 for lifetime service.
