Susan Cadogan, a Kingston librarian turned singer, had a UK top-five hit in 1975 with the Lee Perry-produced "Hurt So Good", one of the first Jamaican-recorded hits by a woman to chart that high in Britain and a fixture of lovers rock's prehistory. Dennis and Yvonne Harris licensed it to Magnet Records, and used the proceeds to build the Brockley studio that became the base for their Lovers Rock label. She continued recording and performing for decades after.
