U Brown (born Huford Benjamin Brown, 1956) is a Jamaican deejay heavily influenced by U-Roy, whom he replaced on King Tubby's Hi-Fi sound system in 1975 after starting out on Silver Bullet and Sound of Music. He had a local hit in 1976 with 'Starsky and Hutch' and released roughly eleven albums between 1976 and 1984, many produced by Bunny Lee and toasting over dubs mixed by King Tubby and Prince Jammy. His fast, percussive delivery made him a key transitional figure between roots toasting and dancehall.
