Ken Khouri's pioneering recording-and-pressing operation at 129 King Street, Kingston, grown out of his furniture store, Times Furniture, where he had moved his recording equipment after outgrowing first his house and then a rented nightclub room. By 1954, in partnership with his brother Richard, he had imported two record presses from America and secured a licensing contract with Mercury Records, making Records Limited Jamaica's first indigenous record-making facility and the direct forerunner of Federal Records.
