Mikayla Simpson, born in Spanish Town in 2000. "Toast" made her internationally known in 2018, and the Rapture EP won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2020 — she was the youngest person and the only woman to have taken that award on her own. Her writing is bright and conscious in a way that reopened a door for young Jamaican artists abroad.
