Papa San

Papa San (born Tyrone Thompson, 1967) is a Jamaican deejay who earned a reputation as one of the fastest 'fast chat' lyricists in dancehall, honing his craft on sound systems including Black Scorpio and Creation from the late 1970s. He became a major dancehall star of the late 1980s and 1990s with hits such as 'Maddy Maddy Cry' and 'Strange', a frequent clash performer, before converting to Christianity in 1997 and moving into gospel reggae. He and his wife later founded a ministry and he continues as a leading gospel artist.
