One of the four surviving Maroon communities, in the Rio Grande valley of Portland, and a centre of Kromanti ceremonial practice and Maroon drumming. UNESCO recognised the Maroon heritage of Moore Town on its intangible cultural heritage list — the deepest continuous African-derived musical tradition on the island.
