Port Antonio, Portland

Well supported

The Portland harbour town where Jamaica's banana trade and its tourist trade both began. Musically it is folk country — mento and Jonkonnu survived strongly in Portland — and its later fame as a quiet hideaway for film stars and musicians gave it a different relationship with the music business than the sound-system north coast.
