Seaview Gardens, Kingston
Well supported
Seaview Gardens is an inner-city community in west Kingston, next to Waterhouse, and one of the most productive single addresses in dancehall. Shabba Ranks grew up there. So did Rodney Price, who became Bounty Killer and whose childhood street was renamed Rodney Price Drive in 2026. The four deejays who formed the Scare Dem Crew in 1995 — Boom Dandimite, Elephant Man, Nitty Kutchie and Harry Toddler — came together there as the Seaview Family before taking their name from a Bounty Killer record, and General B of the Monster Shack Crew came up in the same streets. A generation later Dexta Daps was born there. What the community demonstrates is the sound-system apprenticeship working as intended: an established artist carries the younger ones on tour, and the crew that follows him is from the same few streets.
