O2 Academy Brixton
Well supported
The 5,000-capacity hall in south London, opened as a cinema in 1929, and the most important British venue for Jamaican music outside a dancehall. Brixton's Caribbean population made it the natural stop for every touring reggae and dancehall act, and a headline booking there has functioned for decades as proof that an artist has arrived in Britain.
