The Bounty Killer–Beenie Man rivalry, ignited by their 1993 Sting clash and running through the decade, is repeatedly invoked in the sport-versus-war argument — and both sides claim it. Detractors saw a bitter, escalating personal feud (later entangled with the 'D'Angel' affair) as exactly the kind of animosity that makes stage clashing dangerous. Defenders, including much of the dancehall press, hold the pair up as the model rebuttal: two of the fiercest competitors who kept it strictly lyrical, never let it turn physical, and eventually reconciled on record ('Legendary,' 2014) and in a celebrated Verzuz reunion.
